The “Arena” fitness center is part of a sports and recreation center located at the Obolon football stadium in Kyiv. The space is designed for both individual and group training and is suitable for people of all ages, fitness levels, and class. The total area of the main working spaces of the fitness center is 1,500 m². It has all the necessary areas for fitness, martial arts, dancing, as well as extra services like changing rooms, showers, massage and beauty rooms, a hotel, and a café-bar. The 200 m² gym is the centerpiece of the facility. It is equipped with modern training equipment for all muscle groups, at the same time.
Meeting Ventilation Requirements for Fitness Center
Several important factors had to be taken into account when installing ventilation system for fitness center. The gym is located on the basement floor, has low ceilings, and is subject to high heat loads due to intensive training sessions and a lot of visitors. During the warm season, effective cooling is required to ensure a comfortable indoor climate. Conventional ventilation is not capable of handling such a volume of heat, so a solution with high cooling capacity was required. Important requirements included stable operation, energy efficiency, low noise, and convenient control.
A BLAUCOOL A series chiller with a power of 35 kW was installed at the new facility

As part of the project, a BLAUCOOL BLCHSC-E-350-OA modular chiller with a power of 35 kW was installed to ensure a stable indoor climate. This high-tech equipment with an EVI (Enhanced Vapor Injection) compressor ensures high energy efficiency, while also functioning as an effective air purifier for fitness center environments:

  • EER 3,25 — in cooling mode;
  • COP 3,49 — in heating mode.


Operation in extreme conditions


Thanks to EVI technology, the chiller is capable of operating stably over a wide temperature range:

  • in heating mode: from -30°C to +24°C;
  • in cooling mode: from +5°C to +48°C.

This allows the equipment to be operated efficiently even in winter or in the off-season without losing performance.

Low noise and acoustical comfort
A range of engineering solutions has been implemented to reduce noise:

  • five levels of compressor sound insulation;
  • soundproof chamber for the economizer;
  • high-quality DC fans with smooth speed control;
  • Silent Mode, which limits power based on a preset schedule.

These solutions ensure comfortable operation even in noise-sensitive areas.

Reliability and safe operation


The chiller is equipped with:

  • a system with 18 levels of protection (overheating, freezing, water/refrigerant shortage, overload, phase imbalance, etc.)
  • shock-absorbing pipe fastening to mitigate vibrations

This ensures long service life and stable operation of the equipment under harsh conditions.
Intelligent control and integration
The chiller can be connected via ModBus, which allows for:

  • remote parameter control;
  • integration into BMS (building management systems).

This ensures complete control, easy maintenance, and optimized power consumption.
After installing the BLAUBERG BLCHSC-E-350-OA chiller, the Obolon Arena fitness center received a stable and energy-efficient solution for maintaining an optimal indoor climate. High cooling capacity allowed for effective compensation of heat loads in the hall, sufficient even during peak hours. The ability to operate in a wide temperature range ensures year-round system efficiency, while cloud-based control makes monitoring and maintenance easy. In this way, Blauberg has implemented a reliable solution that fully meets the high requirements of a modern sports facility.
